Dilworth Dirtjumps Are No More

May 11, 2008

Friday May 9th, 2008 at approximately 2:00pm, Dilworth Dirt Jumps also know as Starfox Galaxy, STF, Dilly and Double D were plowed.

The jumps were on private property and were destroyed by the contractors of dilworth mountain. I started these about 3 years ago and after many set backs (vandalism) we got lots of help and made them great. I have met tonnes of great riders and made so many great friends through these trails. I can't even describe the amount of work that was put into these not only by me but all the riders. I would like to mention one of the biggest contributers to the jumps, Brian Mueller has put in a ridiculous amount of work and is a big reason why the jumps were so rad. These jumps started my biking career and they have grown with me as I have progressed as a mountain biker. They may not have been the best jumps or in the perfect spot but they meant so much to me.

When I got home from school on that horrible Friday, I knew something was seriously wrong by the look on my dad's face. I asked him what was going on and he replied by saying, "You don't have jumps anymore." I didn't believe it for a long time, even after seeing the aftermath. The thing I couldn't understand was that my dad talked to the guy plowing them and he had no sympathy. He said we made a mess even though there was no garbage around and we kept the area looking good. He even went as far as saying that my dad could be charged for letting us build there. I am glad I was not the one to go up there to find a machine tearing apart my work because I probably would have lost it and ended up getting arrested.

I hope I never have to go through something like this again and that I will be way more careful about the next jumps I build. I feel very sorry for all the people that have lost jumps or trails, it is basically the worst thing that can happen to a biker. I have to find a way to learn and progress from this and not let it hurt me anymore then it already has.

I will have a big video of dilworth on here soon as well as one from when the jumps first started and more pictures of other riders. I never managed to get a picture of them how they were before they got plowed...

Goodbye Dilworth,
Stirling.
